How long do I have to complete my ONLINE Course?
Students have 6 months to complete their ONLINE course. If the online course is not completed within that timeframe you start the course over. You will have to purchase the course again.
After completing the Online Course students have an additional 6 Months from the date of their first BTW session to complete their drive portion with an instructor.
What is the minimum age requirement to start In-Class instruction?
A student may begin classroom sessions when he/she has reached the minimum age of 15 years and five months.
Can an 18 year old still take the complete Teen Driver Education Course?
Yes, 18 year olds can complete a full teen course which includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind the wheel instruction. They are able to receive a DT Certificate just like a Teen which allows them to take their Drivers Exam multiple times for 1 year in the event that they don't pass.

Are Permits accepted in Apple Wallet since the Governor announced that Driver''s Licenses can be uploaded and utilized there?
For the use of driver training, permits will still need to be in hard copy and not electronic.
What should students bring to In Car Lessons?
Students must have their driving permit with them EVERY drive. They should arrive at least 10 mins early.
When can my student enroll for In Car Lessons: BTW?
Students must have COMPLETED the 24-hours of classroom instruction PRIOR to beginning In Car lessons. If the student completes an Online class then he/she must provide the Certificate of Completion prior to his/her first In Car lesson. Students who complete the 24 hours of classroom lessons either in person or online through DriveSmart Academy will have priority booking options for In Car Lessons.
What is your Behind the Wheel Cancelation Policy?
If you need to cancel a drive for any reason it should be done more than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment. Cancellations must be done by calling and speaking with someone in the office between 9:00AM-4:00PM Monday thru Friday. EXAMPLE: Cancelations for Monday must be made by Friday before 4:00PM. Anything inside of the 24 hour business hour window will be charged a cancelation fee. Please review your contract for cancellation fees and details.

What happens after I Register ONLINE?
After you register your student online for one of our packages, our system sends us a notification to review all the information and to "Activate" your account. Once your account has been reviewed and is activated, you will receive your username and sign-on information for your Student Portal.
What is your refund policy?
There are no refunds.
When is my payment due?
All Payments for services are due prior to scheduling. Once payments are received you will have the ability to schedule online or by calling our office.

What does the state of Ohio require for a license?
The State of Ohio requires everyone under the age of 18 to take 24 hours of classroom lessons and then eight hours of driving lessons. For additional information visit Ohio BMV.
